  3.     FIRED. Tom Landry, 64, the only coach of the Dallas Cowboys
  4. since the team was founded 29 years ago. A brilliant, unemotional
  5. football strategist noted for never removing his hat while a game
  6. was in progress, Landry guided the Cowboys to five Super Bowl
  7. appearances, including victories in 1972 and 1978. As Landry's
  8. replacement, the Cowboys' new owner, Arkansas oilman Jerral Jones,
  9. selected his college teammate, University of Miami coach Jimmy
  10. Johnson. Said Landry: "You've taken my team away from me."
